What is food poisoning?
Food poisoning is any illness or disease that results from eating contaminated food and is estimated by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to affect 48 million people each year. Foodborne illnesses are usually infectious or toxin in nature and can be caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites or chemical substances entering the body through contaminated food or water, which can result in severe diarrhoea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.
What are the symptoms of food poisoning?

How does Travelan® reduce the risk of bacterial food poisoning?
Some of the most common bacterial causes of food poisoning5 (and Traveller’s Diarrhoea) include E.Coli, Campylobacter and Salmonella. Taking Travelan® before a meal helps to neutralise these types of bacteria and the toxins they produce in the gastrointestinal tract before they can cause diarrhoea, vomiting and other symptoms. Research has shown that the antibodies in Travelan® bind to and react with a wide variety of pathogens including Enterotoxigenic E.Coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter6, Shigella, Enterobacter, Klebsiella and Cholera.
How does Travelan® work?
Travelan®’s active ingredient is hyperimmune bovine colostrum powder, a natural and rich source of antibodies that bind to Entertoxigenic E.Coli and other diarrhoea causing bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. Travelan® helps to stop these bacteria from attaching to the intestinal wall and neutralises their ability to cause diarrhoea, digestive upset and other associated symptoms1.
What is the difference between Travelan® and probiotics?
Travelan® utilises specific antibodies to bind the pathogenic bacteria and the toxins they produce, effectively neutralising them and inhibiting their attachment to the gastrointestinal tract, reducing inflammation and bacterial colonisation. Probiotics seed the gastrointestinal tract with certain strains of beneficial bacteria.
What makes Travelan® different to other bovine colostrum supplements?
Travelan® contains the natural immune boosting effects of regular bovine colostrum, thanks in part to the presence of immunoglobulins and lactoferrin. What sets Travelan® apart from normal bovine colostrum is the fact that it contains high levels of specific antibodies which target and neutralise a wide range of E.Coli bacteria.
