Your stomach’s best friend on Staycation!
Travelan® is well known by globetrotters for reducing the risk of Travellers’ Diarrhoea when overseas. But did you know it’s also a great companion when you’re at home on Staycation? Made from a unique hyperimmune bovine colostrum powder, Travelan® is an immune supplement that helps to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal bacterial infections, including food poisoning from bacteria such as E.coli. It can also reduce the symptoms of minor gastrointestinal disorders1 and promote general digestive health.
Always read the label. Contains cow’s milk proteins and lactose. If symptoms persist consult your healthcare practitioner.
Diarrhoea and digestive upsets can occur for a variety of reasons, including:
- Increased stress levels.
- Changes in diet and/or exercise habits.
- Consuming contaminated food or water infected with pathogenic bacteria which attack the intestines and release diarrhoea-causing toxins. You can be at risk of this at home if you are exposed to poorly prepared meals or takeaway foods transported in uncontrolled temperatures.
Travelan® is designed to target and neutralize pathogenic bacteria and the toxins they produce in your gastrointestinal tract before they can make you sick.1
How does Travelan® support digestive health and the gut microbiota?
The human gastrointestinal tract is home to an enormous and complex community of commensal bacteria2. This gut microbial community (microbiota) provides many essential health benefits including digestion, the production of essential nutrients, detoxification, protection against pathogens and regulation of the immune system2.
Stress, poor dietary choices, pathogenic bacteria and virus infections can alter these gut microbial communities and in some cases may cause immune dysregulation and disease3. Travelan® may assist in maintaining the delicate balance of the gut microbiota in times of stress or weakened immunity by eliminating invading pathogens.
Travelan® is a purified preparation of highly specific antibodies which target pathogenic bacteria and the toxins they produce. It does not react with or alter the normal microbial community of a healthy gastrointestinal tract, unlike antibiotics and will not lead to antibiotic resistance, an increasing concern world-wide4.
How does Travelan® reduce the risk of bacterial food poisoning?
Some of the most common bacterial causes of food poisoning5 (and Traveller’s Diarrhoea) include E.Coli, Campylobacter and Salmonella. Taking Travelan® before a meal helps to neutralise these types of bacteria and the toxins they produce in the gastrointestinal tract before they can cause diarrhoea, vomiting and other symptoms. Research has shown that the antibodies in Travelan® bind to and react with a wide variety of pathogens including Enterotoxigenic E.Coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter6, Shigella, Enterobacter, Klebsiella and Cholera.
How does Travelan® work?
Travelan®’s active ingredient is hyperimmune bovine colostrum powder, a natural and rich source of antibodies that bind to Entertoxigenic E.Coli and other diarrhoea causing bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. Travelan® helps to stop these bacteria from attaching to the intestinal wall and neutralises their ability to cause diarrhoea, digestive upset and other associated symptoms1.
What is the difference between Travelan® and probiotics?
Travelan® utilises specific antibodies to bind the pathogenic bacteria and the toxins they produce, effectively neutralising them and inhibiting their attachment to the gastrointestinal tract, reducing inflammation and bacterial colonisation. Probiotics seed the gastrointestinal tract with certain strains of beneficial bacteria.
What makes Travelan® different to other bovine colostrum supplements?
Travelan® contains the natural immune boosting effects of regular bovine colostrum, thanks in part to the presence of immunoglobulins and lactoferrin. What sets Travelan® apart from normal bovine colostrum is the fact that it contains high levels of specific antibodies which target and neutralise a wide range of E.Coli bacteria. This is referred to as hyperimmune colostrum and has been developed under Immuron’s proprietary technology.
