What is Travelan®?
Travelan® is a dietary supplement that has clinically proven strength for digestive tract protection*. Travelan® reduces the risk of occasional diarrhea and helps to maintain regularity and digestive health, leaving you to enjoy life’s adventures.
Statistics show that diarrhea is a leading health problem for international travel effecting up to 70% of travellers1. In addition, contaminated food and beverages cause approximately 48 million cases of diarrhea in the US each year2.

How can Travelan® help you?
When you take one or two caplets of Travelan® before a meal, it lays in wait in the gastrointestinal tract. If you consume food or drinks that are contaminated with diarrhea causing bacteria such as Enterotoxigenic E.Coli, Travelan® utilizes specific antibodies to bind the bacteria, neutralizing them and inhibiting their attachment to the intestinal wall.
In short, Travelan® is designed to target and neutralise bacteria before they can make you sick.

Travelan® Ingredients
The medicinal ingredient in Travelan® is hyperimmune bovine colostrum powder (200mg) enriched with anti-E.coli antibodies. Travelan® is anti-microbial. It is not an antibiotic and will not cause antibiotic resistance.
The non-medicinal ingredients of Travelan® include croscarmellose, sodium, glucose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and colloidal silicon dioxide.
TRAVELAN® CONTAINS COW’S MILK PROTEINS AND LACTOSE.
What is Dairy (Bovine) Colostrom Powder (BCP)?
Each caplet of Travelan® contains 200mg of “Hyperimmunised” Dairy (Bovine) Colostrum Powder which has been scientifically developed to be rich in antibodies against pathogenic bacteria. Bovine Colostrum Powder also contains other naturally occurring factors that have non-specific antimicrobial properties such as lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase which may aid in maintaining digestive health. The BCP in Travelan® is sourced from New Zealand dairy cows that have been specifically “hyper-immunised” with patented Immuron vaccines by experienced and qualified veterinarians. These vaccines illicit a strong immune response which allows the cows to produce very high levels of specific antibodies, against the ETEC bacteria and the toxins they produce that cause diarrhea. The antibodies bind to the ETEC bacteria and toxins, effectively neutralizing them and inhibiting their attachment to the gastrointestinal tract.
Animal Health & Welfare
Immuron has partnered with Synlait, an innovative and trusted dairy company based in New Zealand, for the supply of its bovine colostrum powder. Synlait specializes in the processing of infant formula and special milk powders and operates under an internationally accredited ISO/IEC 17065 dairy assurance system. Synlait only partners with certified dairy farmers which exceed New Zealand’s Animal Health and Welfare standards. In addition to this, Immuron’s commercial operations are managed by experienced and qualified veterinarians. A small portion of colostrum is harvested from selected dairy farms for processing, leaving plenty for the calves and standard dairy farm requirements. The health and welfare of a herd impacts directly on milk quality. The best dairy farmers know this and work hard to ensure a happy, healthy herd. It’s the proactive steps they take today that help improve milk production tomorrow. Click here for more information on Synlait’s Lead with Pride programme.
Scientific Evidence
Travelan® has demonstrated in clinical trials to significantly decrease the risk of occasional diarrhea and also to decrease the symptoms of minor gastrointestinal disorders. Travelan® underwent Controlled Human Infection Model (CHIM) studies which were double-blinded placebo-controlled clinical trials in Europe and the USA. The trials showed protection of up to 90.3% against the onset of occasional diarrhea3. Clinical trials have shown that people who received Travelan® had significantly less discomfort and diarrhea than those who did not receive Travelan®.
In addition recent studies performed by the US Defense Force show that the anti-ETEC antibodies in Travelan® are cross-reactive against other diarrhea causing pathogenic bacteria such as Campylobacter, other strains of Enterotoxigenic E.coli and Shigella – all potential bacterial causes of diarrhea while travelling4.
